WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging application owned by Meta, is set to launch a screen-sharing feature for video calls. This new addition will allow users to share the contents of their devices during video calls, enabling easier collaboration, demonstrations, and remote troubleshooting.

WABetaInfo, a reliable source of WhatsApp updates, confirmed the release of this feature to select beta testers. Upon installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.74 update from the TestFlight app, these users will have the opportunity to experiment with screen sharing.

If enabled for your WhatsApp account, you will notice a new icon at the bottom of the screen during a video call. By tapping on this option, you can share the content of your screen with all participants on the call.

When utilizing this feature, everything visible on your screen, including notifications, will be recorded and shared with the individuals currently connected to the video call.

To prevent unexpected interruptions, it is advisable to activate the “Do Not Disturb” mode or your preferred focus mode while using screen sharing, as suggested by the WABetaInfo report.

The report also states that users will have complete control over this feature. Although your screen content is continuously shared during the video call, you can pause or stop it whenever desired. Furthermore, your screen content will only be shared with others after you grant permission.

Initially available to a limited number of beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, the screen-sharing feature will gradually roll out to a wider audience over the next few weeks, as mentioned in the report.

In addition to this update, WhatsApp is actively working on Meta Quest compatibility for its Android beta version. This upcoming feature will allow users to link their existing WhatsApp accounts to Meta Quest devices, as per WABetaInfo.

With the introduction of screen sharing and ongoing improvements, WhatsApp continues to enhance the user experience and expand its capabilities, enabling seamless communication and collaboration for its vast user base.
